The Restaurant Ten Owners along with NBA star, Stephen Jackson are creating something unforgettable for Gianna Floyd
Via: Abesi PR: December 14th, 2020, Atlanta, GA —-On May 25th, 8 minutes and 45 seconds shook the world to its core. People from all over the world watched in disbelief as George Floyd took his last breath while calling out for his mother. The untimely death of Floyd, an African American man who died while in police custody triggered immense outrage and resulted in global protests. The death of George Floyd has forever impacted the world in a way that left many enraged and traumatized. However, no one has felt this deep loss more than Floyd’s family, in particular his six-year-old daughter Gianna Floyd. Gianna lost not only her father and support system but also her best friend.
On Wednesday, December 16th, Gianna celebrated her 7th birthday in Atlanta, Georgia. The children of Rayshard Brooks (who was shot by Atlanta Police in June) have also been invited. Gianna’s extended family, Restaurateurs and Business Executives Ericka and William Platt of Restaurant Ten and Rosie’s Café are creating a magical experience for her with the help of Rap superstar, Lil Baby who is sponsoring the celebration and NBA pro, Stephen Jackson. Jackson was George Floyd’s best friend and has become a father figure to Gianna.
Over the last few months, the Platt’s have stepped in as a support system to Gianna and her mother, Roxie Washington. “This is a very difficult time for my daughter so we’re very grateful that our extended family is creating such a special experience for Gianna on her first birthday without her father,” said Washington.
Incidentally, Ericka Platt is very familiar with children losing their parents through violence as she herself suffered the loss of her daughter’s father seventeen years ago. This experience and trauma inspired Ericka to become a light and supporter of kids who have lost their parents. It planted the seed of her philanthropic efforts.
“During the holidays and on occasions like birthdays, the loss that kids suffer is magnified and the process of grief is unimaginably difficult. We want to offset those moments of pain with happiness on Gianna’s special day,” said Platt. “With the help of The Glitz of Atlanta, The Pink Hotel, Chef Lori of Restaurant Ten, and Signature One Transportation, I think we will do exactly that.”
Through the “Love to all who have a love for all” organization created by Stephen Jackson; we want to continue supporting children who have experienced the loss of a parent. To support, donate or find out more information please visit this link
