About the track, Peezy says ”I’m tryna change my sound a little bit. I feel like this song is a good start for me. Different rhyming patterns and melodies but still being me. Most importantly still rapping bout my life and what I seen and been through but making it more appealing to more ears. G Herbo was the perfect person to get on the song because we came from similar backgrounds.”
The release of “Mufasa” jumpstarts a new era for Peezy and comes on the heels of his last single “Mission”. This year has been an eventful one for the rapper, which included an appearance on King Von’s 2022 album What It Means To Be King with “Get It Done”. Peezy recently had a viral moment on Divorce Court, when a man admitted he didn’t return his fiancée’s car at the agreed-upon time because he had a “rare opportunity” to play basketball with his favorite rapper OMB Peezy. As stated in an interview with Wayno for Amazon’s Rotation, Peezy explained his mindset for his forthcoming project, “I’m fighting to put a smile on everybody’s face, even those who don’t deserve to smile”.
