Trophy Boi dropped by Hip Hop United on “The Check In” to discuss his new projects, his process in the music game, and future plans. Being raised in Little Rock, AR provided him with humble roots and a push to foster creativity. Quite often, music was the only outlet available to pass time by while also giving him good vibes. Trophy recalls that when he was younger, he’d try to pen all of the lyrics he heard and then perform as if he was the vocalist. “I just merged to that feeling… I just been sticking with it,” he expressed. This was the spark of his unstoppable drive to reach the ears and capture the hearts of every listener. When asked about people who inspire him, Trophy quickly responded TI because of how he identifies with his lifestyle and role in society–they are fathers, carry themselves with poise and integrity, are uncompromisingly forthright, and have strong boundaries. In addition, he admires Tip’s various career avenues and believes that he is an overall positive role model. He continued, “Plus he’s a smooth character and that’s how I want to keep it.” Nevertheless, he would definitely love to collaborate with TI and exclaimed that it would be a major accolade and career win.
Moreover, support on the homefront has been extraordinary. Trophy’s entire town has supported him from the beginning because they respect that music is all he truly cares about, honoring his passion and gift. They are able to see and admire his growth, especially with releasing relatable music for everyone. He recalls his response to someone’s feedback being, “Ok, you couldn’t relate to that, I’ll write something for you next time.” Needless to say, Trophy uses versatile perspectives to “create his formula,” which is why he enjoys the process and everyone’s opinions–negative or positive. He expressed, “I’m still a student at the end of the day and I like listening to everyone’s opinions because it takes me somewhere I probably didn’t think about going.” The realness felt through his bars is a direct reflection of his levels of integrity and humility. Trophy Boi’s latest single “Up There” ft. Zaytoven was just released with accompanying visuals coming soon. The experience has been overwhelming because he hasn’t yet learned to embrace all of it; which is also why the duo hasn’t yet developed optimal creative chemistry. Trophy said that he’s “currently soaking up the moments and enjoying the ride.” He is also working on selecting tracks for his EP. “I can drop 3 of them right now if I want to,” he boasted, explaining that he is working on doubling this number to demonstrate a solid body of work. It isn’t a question that Trophy Boi lives in the studio and continues to perfect his craft while waiting for his major moment. “Patience is one of my weapons now. I’m staying patient, waiting my turn, and doing what I’m supposed to do,” he affirmed. When asked how the pandemic impacted him, he responded, “It didn’t stop the hustle, it didn’t stop the grind. Everybody is sitting still, but i’m coming now. The pandemic didn’t do nothing but make everybody stay still for me.” He capitalized on the global timeout to continue conquering the entertainment industry.Looking ahead, Trophy’s goal is to be featured in all motion pictures and on television shows. He’d love to star in comedies particularly, but is open to anything artistic that will serve both himself and the collective. A performer to the core, he went to college for Drama & Theater Arts, and has led his career with the simultaneous mission of highlighting his name while inspiring others to move in their purpose. Stay tuned with Trophy Boi as he seizes all opportunities. Hr has an upcoming Verzuz battle on December 22, 2020 in Chicago where he is determined to “come home with the win for Stonewood,” by showcasing his elite catalog.
