The 2nd Annual HBCU Honors, Presented By Procter & Gamble Celebrates Black Excellence With A Star-Studded Lineup And Powerhouse Honorees Will Packer, Lonnie Johnson, and Jewel Burks Solomon

As previously announced by Variety, the highly anticipated 2024 HBCU Honors, Presented by Procter & Gamble is set to electrify Howard University’s iconic Cramton Auditorium when it tapes in front of a live audience on Thursday, November 14, 2024. This groundbreaking annual celebration, now in its second year, shines a spotlight on the extraordinary accomplishments of graduates from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who have made monumental impact across industries. Hosted by the dynamic actress, comedian, and proud HBCU alumna Kym Whitley, this year’s star-studded event honors trailblazers who embody the inspiring theme, “Celebrating Black Excellence.” HBCU Honors will debut on BET on Sunday, December 1, at 8 p.m. ET. Credentials requests may still be submitted by working media by submitting HERE.

HBCU Honors celebrates the remarkable achievements of industry icons, including Hollywood powerhouse Will Packer—a record-breaking, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, television producer, and NFL team owner; Former NASA Engineer Dr. Lonnie Johnson, recognized for his trailblazing work in science and engineering; and Jewel Burks Solomon, celebrated for her visionary leadership in tech entrepreneurship.

The HBCU Honors Awards Show is an annual celebration that recognizes and honors the outstanding achievements of individuals connected to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In its second year, the event highlights leaders who have made significant contributions in a variety of fields including entertainment, technology, science, education, and business. By showcasing the enduring legacy and cultural impact of HBCUs, the HBCU Honors Awards seeks to inspire the next generation of leaders while celebrating excellence, innovation, and community uplift.

Founded by Spelman College alumna Michelle Bailey, and in partnership with Expectant Media, the event not only honors accomplished HBCU alumni but also serves as a platform for emerging talent, with performances and tributes that pay homage to the rich cultural heritage of Black colleges and universities. Produced in collaboration with Red Summer TV Productions and Expectant Media Group, HBCU Honors will debut as a one-hour television special this December.
