Hip Hop United had the pleasure of hosting Pesos, from Southside, Queens, NY. The entrepreneur’s recent relocation to Atlanta reinforced that, while his passion was music, his gift has always been how people magnetically tune into his ventures. “I was positively affecting people’s lives with branding and marketing more than with music, so I decided to put my energy towards that.” Furthermore, Pesos put thought into action and followed Nipsey’s footsteps to build a constructive legacy in the music industry. While posting up in the music game as a rap artist, Pesos “pivoted [his] passion to merchandise, branding, and marketing.”
As a brand manager for Collective Gallery–the first photography label that is pioneering the future of the industry–Pesos supports photographers in upscaling their businesses, upgrading their brands, showcasing their talents on major platforms and/or at large venues, and expanding their book of clients. Giving the opportunity from Cam Kirk celebrity photographer and Business pioneer and Celebrity Entertainment Lawyer John T Rose , He is truly doing his part in creating a platform for photographers, one of the most critical players in the game, to succeed. “Sometimes people don’t know how to use the proper channel [or that said channels even exist], so I try to be the bridge for that,” Pesos highlighted. This community being built for photographers is integral for both development and culture throughout the entertainment industry.
The self-titled brand Day Pesos has a design with an intriguing name called “Retired Scammer” that will make anyone raise their eyebrows, grabbing people’s attention with its rawness. The artist equates the term scammer to deeply convicted people and part of the mission is sharing public information about how the elitists scam the system and have no labels or negative stigmas applied to them; whereas when a Black person, or someone from another ethnic group presents lavishly, they are immediately profiled and discriminated against–even if only judgment. Pesos explains that the goal is not to taint the characters’ of those on “the other side,” it’s to communicate real occurrences from a different lens.
