NASAAN stands proudly in the legacy of his late father, D12 founder and frontman Big Proof, but it’s clear that the multi-hyphenate artist is honoring that legacy by building his own creative universe. NASAAN produces and raps with all the skill you’d imagine given his pedigree, but he also directs and edits the wildly unique music videos that are distinguishing him from his peers and earning him the respect of rap giants like Eminem and Busta Rhymes. His debut mixtape comes in April via Atlantic Records / Assemble Sound. Like NASAAN himself, the project is rooted in Detroit and involves some of the city’s best, from Big Sean and Babytron, to Icewear Vezzo, Denaun Porter and Pooh Beatz. But its title, ERROR 404, also recognizes Atlanta, the city he called home from age 6 to 22. If the title also refers to the “not found error”, NASAAN’s playful irony is not lost on us-– 2024 is the year he’s done being undiscovered.
