Early Life of Jessica Betts
Jessica’s career as a musician began early with roots in the church. Her grandmother, who was also the pastor, made an executive decision that Jessica would be the leading vocalist in the choir. While at her own basketball game in high school, she decided to live up to her name, choosing to bet on herself and showcase her “it factor.” The coach allowed her to sing the national anthem and she was signed to Boyz II Men’s record label two months later, underscoring her value to this industry at age 16. She was later dubbed a unicorn because she emphasized that being extraordinary is rare, sometimes even viewed as “weird;” therefore, she chooses to fully own and promote what she represents–as well as how she and others set themselves apart.
Shifting and Creating Lanes
The transition from sports to art–R&B, rock n roll, and soul– was her nudge to simply be herself and mature into her fullest capacity as a creative force. Since coming into full alignment, she has been presented with great opportunities to catapult her career. Fortunately, Jessica Betts has fulfilled her dream collaborations with the exception of late greats, such as the legendary talents Prince and Whitney Houston. She is currently finishing her EP and has also shifted into the acting lane.

Her newest single, “We Drip,” started off as a love note to Neicy Nash that quickly turned into a lit summer bop. This dynamic duo transcends the entertainment industry from the depths of their creativity, which is love’s expression in this world. They define “drip” as honing in on the sexy, sensuality, and strength, which they represent as individuals and as a power couple. Jessica Betts lovingly expressed how working and growing together with her wife, Neicy, is a beautiful challenge. They balance one another out and like water, they flow and drip. “The fluidity of our love is so amazing, we have our highs and lows, and it’s innate with us.” This creative flow translates to the pair remaining in sync and having fun, which the entertainer called their “cruising altitude.” She appreciates and credits her wife for being an absolute boss, knowing what she wants, having a full vision, and making sure that everything is done with distinction. While they’re not creating together, they continue to drip wherever they stand!
Jessica Betts on the Big Screen:
Aside from the EP that will be released later this year, Jessica Betts has been making waves as a dynamic new actress. Fans can expect to see her in season 2 of P-Valley playing Black Caesar, who is Uncle Clifford’s high school friend. She is also featured in a short film called Live With It as character Twigs, which will be available in upcoming film festivals.
The Dynamic Duo Drips Some More
Other new projects include the couple’s merchandise line, “Fully Seen,” including hoodies, T-shirts, and beanies, which will be released in a few weeks. The concept was based on Neicy highlighting that she loves being fully seen, so they want to invite others into their foundation of love for self and one another through this brand. They are also brainstorming other projects and are working on creating a show together. They have had the opportunity to work together on Don’t Forget the Lyrics, which debuts on May 23, 2022. Neicy Nash hosts and Jessica Betts plays in the band. Additionally, Neicy Nash will be in the cast of the ABC spinoff of The Rookie as well as Beauty, a movie by Lena Waithe that’s premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2022.
